As it became known recently, China’s gold reserves increased by 510,000 ounces in May this year, more than a month earlier. Since January of this year, Chinese gold reserves have increased by more than 2 million ounces.
The State Administration of Foreign Exchange Control of the People's Republic of China (SAFE) published official data on the country's currency reserves for May 2019. It follows from them that China’s total international reserves amount to $ 3.199.81 billion - an increase of + 0.2% compared with April.
China's gold reserves at the end of May are 61.61 million ounces, which corresponds to 1916.28 tons - an increase of 15.86 tons compared to April. Thus, in May, the most gold was bought for state reserves from June 2016.
The cost of China’s gold reserves is currently estimated at $ 57.94 billion, while the share of gold in international reserves is 1.81%.
It is worth recalling that since the beginning of the current 2019, China has increased its reserves of gold by 2,050,000 ounces, which corresponds to 63 tons. It is noteworthy that for three consecutive months, purchases of gold for reserves have increased incrementally.
